A look at the Gold and Silver Charts (30.04.2026)

Gold and silver - Straits of Hormuz were paralyzed

In my opinion, the world economies are in dire trouble; all are devaluing their currencies, and currency printing is rampant. As a result, inflation is roaring while the economies are slowing to a snail’s pace. We do not see the decline easily because most currencies are falling together. We should measure against gold. (See the gold v USD chart below).  The markets are looking great because they are compensating for the underlying inflationary pressure.

Governments are looking for a way out of the quagmire they have spent themselves into, and war gives an excuse for more currency printing.  The automatic answer is to create employment to replenish the supplies burned attacking one another, leading to replacement or renewal of the expended arms and ammunition. I hate to count the hundreds of thousands or millions of lives lost or destroyed in these wars.

I have lived and owned a factory during stagflation. It is an extremely humbling experience. One I would prefer not to re-live. It looks likely that I will see stagflation again. All the markers are patent.

The World Bank forecasts a 24% increase in fuel prices and 31% increase in fertilizer prices. Aluminium is reaching new highs. Gas and acid prices are skyrocketing. I think this is just the beginning of the price increases. Food production stalls under these conditions, and delivery becomes difficult, leading to shortages and more deaths. Gold, silver, and other assets thrive in this environment.

If stagflation is mild, gold rises steadily, silver lags then catches up.
If stagflation is severe, silver and commodities can become explosive but chaotic.
If central banks crush inflation with very high real rates, commodities can correct sharply.

The basic factors keeping me in silver are:

  1. Preserve purchasing power
  2. Avoid counterparty risk
  3. Hedge systemic crises
  4. Benefit from debt/currency stress
  5. Gain diversification
  6. Capture silver industrial upside
  7. Maintain sovereign control of wealth
  8. Hold historically trusted stores of value
  9. Anticipate price increase as physical stocks disappear

If interest rates are cut, it will weaken the dollar, and as a direct result, silver prices will rise.

It is difficult eating gold and silver so a plan including food, water, protection and metals would be advisable.
